COREP Reporting, Automated from Template to Submission

XBRL Express handles COREP validation, XBRL generation, and direct submission to EBA and ONEGATE — with taxonomy updates applied automatically, so your team spends time on analysis, not filing mechanics.

What Is COREP and Who Must Comply?

COREP — Common Reporting — is the EBA's standardised prudential reporting framework for credit institutions operating under the Capital Requirements Regulation (CRR) and Capital Requirements Directive (CRD VI). It covers own funds, capital adequacy, credit risk, market risk, operational risk, large exposures, liquidity, and leverage ratio disclosures.

All credit institutions authorised in the European Union and European Economic Area are subject to COREP requirements. This includes commercial banks, savings banks, investment firms under CRD VI scope, and their EU subsidiaries. Reports must be submitted in XBRL format to the relevant national competent authority (NCA) — such as the ECB under the SSM, the ACPR in France, BaFin in Germany, or the PRA in the UK — and are consolidated by the EBA via the EUCLID platform.

Reporting frequencies vary by template family: daily for the net stable funding ratio, monthly for liquidity coverage, and quarterly for the majority of own funds and risk exposure templates. Missing a filing deadline or submitting malformed XBRL triggers supervisory follow-up, making reliable tooling a compliance necessity, not an option.

COREP Template Families Covered

XBRL Express supports the full EBA COREP taxonomy across the C01–C80 template range. Below are the key families covered, mapped to their regulatory purpose:

Own Funds and Capital Adequacy

Credit Risk

Market Risk

Operational Risk

Large Exposures

Liquidity Coverage and Net Stable Funding

Leverage Ratio

Asset Encumbrance and Additional Monitoring Metrics

How XBRL Express Automates COREP

Manually preparing COREP in spreadsheets, converting to XBRL with external tools, and correcting validation errors from the supervisory portal is time-consuming and error-prone. XBRL Express replaces that workflow with an integrated pipeline.

Data Entry and Import

Enter data directly into template-faithful data entry screens, or import from structured sources including the Core Banking Connector for SAB-based core banking systems. The interface mirrors the EBA template layout, so your team works in familiar territory without needing to understand underlying XBRL instance documents.

Real-Time Validation Against EBA Business Rules

Before you file anything, XBRL Express runs the full EBA DPM validation ruleset — including inter-template consistency checks across C01, C07, C28, and the liquidity modules. Errors are flagged in plain language with the relevant rule identifier and cell reference, not raw XBRL stack traces. Warnings are distinguished from blocking errors. You resolve issues before submission, not after a supervisor rejection.

XBRL Generation and Taxonomy Auto-Updates

The platform generates standards-compliant XBRL instance documents against the current EBA taxonomy version automatically. When the EBA releases an updated taxonomy — typically following CRR amendments or annual DPM releases — Diligence pushes the update to all users. You do not need to download taxonomy packages, reconfigure mappings, or retest your filing pipeline after each EBA release.

Direct Submission via ONEGATE

XBRL Connect provides native synchronisation with the ACPR's ONEGATE portal. Reports are submitted directly from within the platform, with filing status tracked in real time. Acknowledgements, rejection notices, and supervisory feedback are surfaced without requiring manual portal logins. For institutions reporting to multiple NCAs, submission workflows can be managed in a single interface.

Audit Trail and Version Control

Every filing is stored with a full audit trail: who submitted, which taxonomy version was used, validation results at time of submission, and any amendments. This satisfies internal audit requirements and supports supervisory examinations without additional record-keeping effort.

Why Compliance Teams Choose Diligence

No External Consultants Required

XBRL Express is designed for compliance professionals, not XBRL specialists. The platform abstracts taxonomy complexity behind a template-native interface. Your team can configure reporting entities, map data sources, and submit filings without retaining an XBRL consultancy for each reporting cycle. Over 200 institutions across 9 European countries file without external XBRL support.

Support That Actually Responds

Regulatory deadlines do not accommodate slow helpdesk queues. Diligence maintains a 23-minute median first-response time and a 100% answer rate on support tickets. When a validation rule is ambiguous or a taxonomy change creates unexpected behaviour, you reach a person who understands both the regulation and the software — typically within the same business hour.

Coverage Across the Regulatory Perimeter

Institutions rarely report under a single framework. XBRL Express covers COREP alongside FINREP, Solvency II Pillar 3, DORA ICT risk reporting, MiCAR crypto-asset disclosures, and CRD VI remuneration templates. Managing multiple frameworks in one platform reduces integration overhead and ensures consistency in entity and period management across submissions.

On-Premises Deployment Available

Institutions with data residency constraints or strict IT security policies can deploy the Core Banking Connector on-premises. The extraction-to-ONEGATE pipeline runs within your infrastructure, with no customer data transiting Diligence's cloud environment.

Proven Across European Supervisory Regimes

Diligence's client base spans institutions reporting to the ECB under the Single Supervisory Mechanism, the ACPR, and national competent authorities in eight additional EU member states. Submission workflows reflect the specific portal requirements and filing conventions of each jurisdiction, not a generic XBRL pipeline bolted onto a single regime.
